Q: Can you help with a last-minute deployment move?
A: Yes, where the schedule allows. Deployment move-outs are short-notice by nature. Call 757-330-0008 with your report date and we will tell you honestly what we can staff.
Q: Do I have to vacate my barracks or unaccompanied housing room when I deploy?
A: Under Navy housing policy, if your deployment is expected to last more than 90 days, yes — you must vacate unaccompanied housing, with limited exceptions your housing office controls. We clear the room and move your belongings to your storage unit.
Q: Will the military pay for my storage while I am deployed?
A: Sometimes for PCS-related storage (Storage in Transit, or Non-Temporary Storage on certain overseas orders), but deployment storage is often out of pocket now — the Army ended its deployment storage funding in October 2023, and policies differ by service. Check your orders and your transportation office before you count on reimbursement. What we control is our rate: it is published above and it does not move.
Q: How much storage do I need for a deployment?
A: A barracks room usually fits a 5x5 or 5x10 unit. A one or two-bedroom apartment usually needs a 10x10 or 10x15. A family household usually needs a 10x20 or larger. Tell us what you have when you book and we will help you size it — you rent the unit, we fill it right.
Q: Can my spouse handle the move while I am deployed?
A: Yes. With a Special Power of Attorney or a DD Form 3167 naming your spouse or another agent, they can direct the move and sign for you. Spouses run deployment move-outs with us regularly — we take direction from the person you leave in charge.
Q: Can I break my lease if I get deployment orders?
A: Generally yes under the SCRA, for deployment orders of 90 days or more: written notice plus a copy of your orders, and termination takes effect 30 days after the next rent due date. Your installation legal assistance office will confirm your exact case. We handle the move-out so the unit is empty on time.
Q: Do you offer a military discount?
A: Yes — a $50 military discount applies to your move, on top of published rates that do not change by neighborhood or by week.
Q: What does a deployment move-out cost?
A: Labor-only starts at $450 (2 movers, 3-hour minimum at $75 per mover per hour). Full-service with our truck starts at $600 (2 movers, 3-hour minimum at $200 per hour). Your total is the crew time your move actually takes, billed in 15-minute increments after the minimum, minus your deposit and the $50 military discount.
