1. Book the weigh-in runs first. On a PPM, empty weight before loading and full weight after are the backbone of your reimbursement — schedule them before the truck is half packed.
2. Keep every receipt in one folder. Truck rental, fuel, packing materials, tolls, the labor invoice — the claim file is won or lost on completeness.
3. Photograph serial-numbered gear. TVs, computers, and pro gear: a dated photo before the move protects you on any claim.
4. Peak season is real. May through August, Norfolk crews book out — the week your orders arrive is the week to reserve your date.
